About
Us, or, Why is an environmental furniture and product design
company called blue marmalade?
Blue Marmalade is a Scottish based company specialising in creating
environmentally sound contemporary furniture and products and providing
these skills to other companies.
The unusual name originates from two of the firmly held beliefs
of the founding directors: First of all, the excellence of the
British design and manufacturing heritage and the desire to support
the quality and integrity that still exists in British manufacturing.
These are qualities that Blue Marmalade looks for in all its products.
And what is more British than marmalade? Secondly: originality,
imagination, fun and the ability to create simple things with a
unique twist. So it is a company as unique as blue marmalade, British
with a twist.
The company has run under the direction of Trent Jennings and
Tom Marsh. Both are designers with complementary experience. |
|
Trent
has a firm grounding in fine cabinet making and has since gained
experience in mechanical, corporate and exhibition design with
a wealth of construction and manufacturing knowledge. Tom also
gained a grounding in furniture design after giving up science.
He has since acquired expertise in executive office and boardroom
furniture design. Together their wide knowledge, skills and imagination
create Blue Marmalade’s
strong visual image and environmental ethos.
Blue Marmalade’s guiding principal is to create and produce
products that reflect its designer’s passions: simplicity,
fun, functionality & eco – friendliness. All our products
are easy to assemble and disassemble, making them not just easy
to put together but also making it easy to break them down into
their components at the end of their lives for recycling. Our strength
is the imaginative use of materials and clever construction techniques
to create good looking and clever items. We not only design interior
products but also can custom design promotional materials and gifts
for corporate events and publicity. All our product design skills
are for hire to companies who want to add a fresh flavour to their
operations.
